AdSense for mobile policies

Can I participate in AdSense for mobile?
If you have a mobile-compliant website that complies with our program policies, you're welcome to participate in AdSense for mobile. Keep in mind that AdSense for mobile will only deliver ads to WAP websites in a limited number of locations.

If you're an existing AdSense publisher, follow these steps to generate the AdSense for mobile code.

If you don't already have an AdSense account, sign up to get started displaying ads on your mobile website.

Can I place Google ads and non-Google ads on the same mobile webpage?
You're welcome to place Google ads and non-Google ads on the same mobile webpage. However, if the non-Google ads are similar in appearance to the Google ads, please adjust the ad color and layout options so that visitors to your site can easily tell the Google and non-Google ads apart.

Our intent with this policy is to be fair to our advertisers and to maintain the integrity of the AdWords and AdSense programs. You can learn more about this and our other policies on our program policies page.

How many ads can I show per mobile webpage?
Currently, publishers are permitted to display one AdSense for mobile (WAP only) ad unit on each of their WAP mobile webpages. If a double ad unit is used, please note that it may only be placed at the bottom of each page.

Publishers should use standard AFC ad units for websites formatted for High-End devices. In this case, they should adhere to the AFC ad limit guidelines which allows up to 3 ad units per page.

Are there webmaster guidelines for mobile websites?
We encourage you to fully review the Mobile Webmaster Guidelines. Additionally, Google's Webmaster Guidelines are applicable to mobile websites and following them will help Google find, index, and rank your mobile site.

The ad code you use depends on the type of mobile website you'd like to show ads on:
  • High-end devices
If your site is intended to be accessed by high-end devices (like iPhones and Android phones), you can use AdSense for content to generate your ad code. AdSense for content ad code uses JavaScript to deliver text, image, and rich media ads to your users’ high-end devices.
You'll be able to use this ad code for a variety of ad formats and on different platforms too, whether that’s the 320x50 mobile leaderboard (usually used for mobile sites) or the 160x600 wide skyscraper (usually used for desktop sites).
  • Feature phones
If your site supports mobile devices such as feature phones that utilize WAP or i-mode, you'll need to use AdSense for mobile to generate your ad code. Devices like feature phones can't render JavaScript so you need to generate different ad code for them. Similarly, if your mobile website supports both WAP/i-mode phones and high-end devices, you'll need to use AdSense for mobile.
Mobile ads are available in the following formats:
For iPhones, Android phones and other high-end devices with full HTML browsers
Text ads:
  • Mobile leaderboard (320x50)
  • Large mobile banner (320x100)
  • Small square (200x200)
  • Square (250x250)
  • Medium rectangle (300x250)
Image ads:
  • Mobile leaderboard (320x50)
  • Large mobile banner (320x100)
To help increase competition for the 320x100 ad size, we allow 320x50 display ads to appear within this format. When this happens, the smaller ad will always be vertically aligned at the top.
  • Small square (200x200)
  • Square (250x250)
  • Medium rectangle (300x250)

AdSense for mobile ads are precisely matched to the content of your mobile webpage using the same targeting technologyas AdSense for content. Our crawlers scan the page to determine its content and then automatically serve ads that are relevant to what your visitors see.
In order for Google to properly target ads to your mobile website, our crawler needs to be able to access your mobile webpages. The phone useragent we use to crawl your site will contain the string "Mediapartners-Google", so please set up your web server to grant access to your mobile content any useragent that contains "Mediapartners-Google".
Please also be aware that Google will not be able crawl your webpages for ads targeting if you are restricting access to your mobile website to a specific set of IP addresses.
